It's been a while since I've scrapped, but over at Studio Calico they are hosting some challenges for National Scrapbook Day that were just irresistible! I love that we can combine several of the challenges onto one layout and that's what I did with this layout. For the challenges: Misting - easy for me; white space - easy for me; vintage photo - easy for me; using the negative space - easy for me as I like to use the negative space of stickers and diecuts for misting which I did on this by using the negative space from the letters and misted over it. I also used the negative space left over from a sticker by my minds eye for the frame around my picture! 4 down 16 to go!! LOL This is a picture of me at my first birthday party. I used my April Studio Calico kit for this - I've almost used all of it - just 2 pieces of pp left and bits and pieces of leftovers. I've made 8 layouts so far with this kit! Woohoo!! TFL!

A few layouts that I recently did!
I was busy this past weekend as we had a Design Team crop at my local scrapbook store - Scrapbook Corner in Little Rock. I actually made 2 1/2 layouts while I was there - not bad for someone who usually takes a complete day for just one layout! I also had some design team work that I had to work on and that was a challenge as it was using a line that I never would have gotten (my dt coordinator loves to do stuff like that to us - she wants us to think outside the box!). I also did 3 of the layouts for my LEO (layout every other day) challenge on Tallyscrappers. My "Ride em cowgirl" layout was the one for the dt work. We're city folk so I really had no pictures of any of us in cowboy boots or hats, but I remembered some pics of Danielle with her girl scout troops riding horses. Unfortunately, the only place I had them were on a layout I had made in 2006 (I lost my pictures on the computer from that year!) so I took that layout apart and scanned the pics - then put the old layout together good as new! The middle 3 layouts I did at the crop, and the last 3 were for the LEO challenge. For my "best friends & siblings" layout, I used a Fuji Instax pic of Samantha and Jonathan that I took in March with Samantha's camera. I want one of those cameras!! I'll just wait until the price goes down some!! TFL!

Me at 45

I can't believe I've made 5 layout so far with a kit I just got on Wednesday evening (five days ago!)
I didn't think I'd really like the April Studio Calico kit when I saw it online, but ever since I've laid eyes on it I've been inspired to scrap a bunch of my vintage pics! I LOVE this kit! The colors are just so ME and the papers are just so scrappable...LOL. I usually get a set of extra papers with each kit, but I didn't this time because I've had so much leftover - but that was a big mistake this month!! I think all the layouts I've made with this kit are my most favorite ever!! I love the one with Michael when he was 17 - oh to be young again!! The cork buttons are too cool and I happened to have some Karen Foster cork to mat the picture! For aye-aye captain I used some Claudine Hellmuth paints and a stamp from an older Studio Calico kit. For the "my room" layout - I used an older (November) Studio Calico kit with the new April kit - that's how well these go together! I was looking for a piece of yellow cardstock, and I discovered that I wanted to use a lot of what was left of the November kit - which wasn't much! I did some misting and added some Zva pearl bling from my stash. Love how different they all look - yet all from the same kit!! Can ya tell I really love this kit??? TFL!!

Vintage pictures & Studio Calico are a great mix!
I got my April Studio Calico kit yesterday and have already finished my first layout with it! I did it last night, I just needed to wait for some light to take the picture! It's a picture of my mom and me on the front porch of many of the houses we lived in when I was a child - my Dad was in the Navy so we moved quite a bit! This kit has Crate paper - which I LOVE (one of my layouts is featured on the Crate Paper blog today!!) and the colors are just so lovely and vintage-y! And those little house stamps are sooo adorable (they were in one of the add-on kits). I used some turquoise Maya mist on the embossed woodgrain cardstock (by Core'dinations) and used my new Ranger inks, tumbled glass and spun honey, for the houses. The lacy doily rub-ons are made by Studio Calico! The journal card was from an earlier Studio Calico kit (can't remember which one!). TFL!!

Another layout with the same picture yet again!!
I got my design team bag of goodies from my local scrapbook store and it included patterned paper and rub-ons from Glitz Design (with some other goodies) and I knew I had to use this picture yet again for a layout! I really need to get the kids to take some more pics of Michael and I!! I, of course, Maya misted some red and charcoal on the lighter background page. I got the tulle (Bazzill) flowers to use in my bag of goodies, but they were too bright and white, so I lightly misted them with the red and charcoal also. I punched some flowers from a piece of the paper and added a little bling to them. I had four pieces of paper to use and I hadn't used one of them when I was through, so I took a strip and pleated it to go across the title. I also used my new EKSuccess bracket border punch - it's my new favorite punch! TFL!

So Happy layout!
I am going to teach a class at my local scrapbook store - Scrapbook Corner in Little Rock, AR - on misting so I decided to experiment a little with the mists! I wasn't sure what project to do - a layout or cards - so I did both to show an example to our design team coordinator.
For the cards, I used cream mist on a Little Yellow Bicycle doily for the flower on the happy spring card and for the other card I used a doily as a mask and misted hydrangea blue over it. For the layout, I also misted hydrangea blue over the doily and used the spot for journaling. We both liked the way they all turned out, but we decided to go with the cards as they would be a lot quicker to do. I will be teaching misting techniques, then we'll be making the cards and a mini-album. It's sometime in May and I am so excited - and a little nervous! TFL!

Lovely colors!
These are officially my new favorite colors to scrap with!! I love the way they all pop together! I did this layout for a challenge at Tallyscrappers called LEO - Layout Every Other day! The challenge for this day was to use 2 pp, 2 pics, and 2 staples or buttons. The pp is the new Little Yellow Bicycle clothesline and Jillibean Soup (the cutout birdhouses). I used some Maya mist - cream and hydrangea blue. I did a little sewing and I used half of a big butterfly rub-on by Jenni Bowlin. I used some new Primas I got at Michael's and I punched a couple of flowers from the backside of the LYB pp. The pics are of me in 1968 - more of the scanned slides pics. TFL!
