Using some pics from scanned slides

This is layout I did using a picture that I had scanned from a slide that I recently got from my mom! Last time I was at her house I grabbed a couple of boxes of slides to have scanned to disk, and then I also had some of them printed out. I don't really like the way the guy printed these out - I really wanted them to look like the original 3x3 with the white border around them, but he said he couldn't do it like that. I do have them on disk so maybe I can find someplace online that will print them that way. This is a picture of me on my first communion day with a group pf my friends and my sister. I can't believe I actually remember their names as this was taken 40 (!!!!) years ago - in 1970. The girl to the far left was my best friend Patricia, next is my sister Becky, I'm in the middle with the fluffy headdress, short and sassy dress, and white knee socks, next is my schoolmate and friend Marissa, and then the girl that lived across the street from me, Laurie. I'm slowly but surely trying to use up all of my March Studio Calico kit. I think this has been my least favorite kit to use. It's a beautiful kit - I'm just having a hard time making everything work together! My favorite part of the kit was the rose ribbon - and I used the last little dregs of what was left on this layout! For some reason this layout looks like it's titled sideways. I measured around and put everything straight on this - I think the dots on the fabric flower page or titled and we are titled in the picture, so it's an optical illusion that everything is crooked. It's not though! TFL!

Layout for sketch challenge at Tallyscrappers

This is a layout that I did for a sketch challenge at a new scrappy forum that I've just discovered called Tallyscrappers. It's a cool site where you give and get points to each other. It's hard to explain (it took me a while to figure it out), but everyone is so nice and fun. Here's a link to their site - Tallyscrapper . I used my March Studio Calico kit for this layout and some pics of Samantha from her high school senior prom in 2003. I misted the butterflies - then glittered and stickled them. TFL!

Cool vintage camera and newest layout!

While visiting Samantha in Kansas, we walked in the snow to Mass Street - the main thoroughfare that has the coolest shops - to a flea market where I saw some really cool vintage cameras! The one I got just reminded me of the space age - I love the circling planet - and it was just $6 so I bought it! I have no idea if it works - I don't even know what kind of film this takes! I want to start collecting them for my scrappy room decor. I started working on this layout before we left for Kansas and I finished it last night. It's a pic of Danielle and I that Jonathan took while we were on our Saturday adventure a couple of weeks ago. I included just a little journaling note to her to let her know that I'll always be there for her. I misted the cs with dark cornflower blue, then did a little sewing! TFL!

A day in the life of the Bishops

Well, a layout of one of our outings anyway...LOL! I took my camera with me (this time - I've been meaning to do this forever but I ALWAYS forget my camera!) while we were out and about last Saturday in downtown Little Rock at the Rivermarket. We like to go down there and eat at our favorite restaurant and sight see a bit. It's always fun to find that the library is having one of their booksales in the basement! We've never actually been inside the Clinton Library - different library - (and feel no real urge to go anyway), but the grounds are beautiful and I made the kids pose for pics while we were there. Jonathan was trying to herd the geese in my direction so I could get some pics of them! It was a fun day - as usual! I always have fun when I'm with my family! I used my March Studio Calico kit for this - plus some of the new SEI alphas in a fun tangerine color! TFL!

Using instead of hoarding is always good!

I used some new Little Yellow Bicycle stuff I got from lss this past weekend (instead of hoarding my new pretties like I tend to do!). I really like the shape of the diecut pp and the diecut frames! I also used some new Primas and the bling is Zva - a line that's new to me! I also used some of my dewdrops that I got while I was at the San Antonio retreat this summer - which is the last time I used them! I did a little mist blotching with my new Maya mist - bubblegum. I took this picture of Danielle this weekend. I had just bought her the hat from a vendor on the street in the Rivermarket in Little Rock. I might have to steal that hat! I love hats - and I think that hat looks so good on her (most hats look good on her - so glad she likes wearing them!). That hat is the color of her eyes - and happens to be my favorite color too! TFL!

Weird layout!!

I've been holding onto these pictures forever! I had no idea how I was going to scrap them, but when I saw this Sassafras Lass pp, I knew it would be perfect for them! I used my March Studio Calico kit for this - plus some Studio Calico stamps from past kits. The kids and I had eaten at a Mexican restaurant at a little town we were visiting - Mountain View, AR - and we saw these moustaches in one of those twist turn vending machines! Samantha convinced me I should get one for everyone, and since I had my camera I knew I couldn't pass up this photo op!! We went outside and put our moustaches on and posed - much to the delight of the people sitting outside on the patio eating and the others passing by us! I still have all of the moustaches - waiting for another photo op to come along!! The starburst is a piece of Studio Calico diecut wood veneer that I used Maya mist on - the new bubblegum color! Love the color!! TFL!

Banner

I got a banner album in my Studio Calico kit yesterday and knew exactly where I wanted to put it when I made it! I worked on it last night and this morning and after finishing I hung it up in my scrappy space! Jonathan helped me hang the curtains and vintage window this weekend and I needed to decorate it. I think I need to add a few more items to my window, but I'll find something cool from a thrift store eventually! TFL!

Just getting around to posting

I did these layouts this weekend and I'm just getting around to posting them on my blog! I was trying to use some of my Feb Studio Calico kit before my March kit came in on Monday! For the family layout - I hand-cut the word "family". The flowers I made from the cloth pp that came in the kit - they're kind of chunky because the cloth was thick, but I like the way they turned out! I used mist on the cloth for the picture matting. The pic is of me and the kids! Vintage findings is a pic of Samantha and I trying on some vintage hats in a thrift store. We love going to thrift stores and try to go whenever we get together! TFL!

I whipped these out this morning!

I usually don't scrap this fast, but I did both of these in about 2 hours this morning - so fast for me! We were having a discussion on Studio Calico about keeping and/or tossing scraps, and I must say that I'm one of the keeper of scraps - I have TONS of bits and pieces that I just can't stand to throw away! So when I pulled out my kit to use this morning - I was inspired to used up all the strips that I had on my sisters layout, and throw the rest of the bits away (that was hard but I did it!). Now all that's left are the half sheets and whole sheets of pp - anything smaller is gone! The other layout is of Samantha and Nick - I was testing my new lens at Christmas so they were posing for me and acting silly! It is for a sketch challenge on the Studio Calico blog. TFL!

Using up my Older (Feb) Studio Calico kit before I get my new (Mar) kit!

I actually started this layout the last weekend at my lss crop night and found it this morning when I decided I needed to use up some of the February Studio Calico kit before I get March's kit - this Friday or next Monday! I just haven't had the time since I've had so much design team work to do! The only thing that is really from the kit is the patterned paper - I used the embellies from my stash as well as some new things that I purchased at at my lss the night of the crop and from Michael's. I love the new chipboard from Maya Road and I used the dressform which I dress with some pp and vellum from the new K&Co ephemera pack. I used the filmstrip ribbon (Tim Holtz) and the metal butterfly which were sitting on my desk and also a new alpha by K and Company - their new "handmade" line is just awesome! I misted the Maya Road envelope before using it as a picture mat. I sprinkled a little charcoal Maya mist on pp too! TFL!

New Crate Paper line - Brook Collection

This is the latest layout that I did for my lss. I love the colors of this new Crate Paper line - so much more me than the last pp that I had to use!! I also used some new Maya Road chipboard! For the banner - I first used the scalloped edge chipboard banner pieces (Maya Road) and misted turquoise over it, then I took the plain edged chipboard pieces (after covering them with different pieces of the Crate Paper) and layered them on top the the misted area. I also got a new border punch from Michael's - it's EKSuccess and it's the morrocan arches. I fussy cut some of the CP for the stems of the flowers. I used my Martha Stewart butterfly punches on the backsides of the Crate Paper (love two-sided pp!) and misted them with iridescent pearl Maya Mist. TFL!
