Layouts for fun!

I've done all my design team work for the month, so I decided to use up some of my June Studio Calico kit (I had to skip July's kit :( - the first kit I SC kit that I missed in the last two years). I hadn't used very much of it, so it was fun playing with it and scrapping some of my vacation pics from Key West. Studio Calico is having a challenge this week to use punches on your layout. I have "ahem" a few ;), and I love to use my border punches, so both of my layouts have punching on them. In the top layout I used one of my favorite EK Success border punches - gothic arches (or something about arches - I can't remember exactly). For the sun, I used the packaging that the veneer (which I used a piece for the middle of the sun) came in. The photos I took on my iphone using the hipstamatic app. For the bottom layout I used several punches - 2 EK Success border punches, a Martha Stewart border punch (for the frame around the photo) and the Martha Stewart starburst punch. TFL!

Having lots of fun!!

I LOVE being on design teams!! I get lots of the newest goodies to use, and they really make me stretch creatively!! Here are three layouts I recently did for the design teams I am working with - my local scrapbook store - Scrapbook Corner (in Little Rock), Yourscrapbookstash.com (an online store) , and Tallyscrapper (a kit club). I did the top layout for my lss - using Basic Grey's green at heart line and some SEI "claire". It's a pic of my mom and her sister-in-law. The tape across the top and bottom is artisan tape by Pink Paislee - I love that stuff!! The middle layout is for Tallyscrapper. I had a little bit left of my kit (I literally used all but one small piece of this kit!!) and when I found this vintage pic of my great grandfather while doing some deep cleaning of my house - I knew it would be perfect for the papers in this kit. I misted using a Tim Holtz mask. The last layout was a lift of the featured member this month - Gayle - of yourscrapbookstash.com. The layout is not a literal lift, but she had lots of stitching on her layout and I lifted that idea. It's a photo of my daughters and me. I did lots of misting and sewing and used some chipboard words by Maya Road. TFL!

Frames Doilies and a prize giveaway a day at yourscrapbookstash.com blog!

I found some old pillowcases at a yard sale that were made of lace that I cut up into individual doilies. I love the look of doilies and I wanted to frame some, so I altered a plain wooden frame that I picked up at Hobby Lobby for $4 to highlight my doilies. I used some patterned paper made by Echo Park - the "walk in the park" line - and rolled them. After spray painting the frame, I applied all the rolled paper pieces to the edges. I attached some of the smaller doilies to the corners. Then, I replaced the center piece with a piece of patterned paper (also from Echo Park) and applied larger doilies to the center. I wanted the middle to be more dimensional, so I made a flower from another piece of the paper, and used a Bazzill brad for the center. I really like the way this turned out and I have it sitting on the easel on a bookcase in my living room! All of the patterned paper can be found at yourscrapbookstash.com, where everything is 20% for the month of July - just use the coupon code JULY20. Also, there is a sketch challenge over at YSS and 3 people will be winners! Check out the blog here for more details!! And if that's not enough there will be a giveaway a day for the next week during CHA - you can check at the details here but basically all you have to do leave a comment every day to be chosen!! AWESOME!! Head on over there RIGHT NOW!!

Home Sweet Home Banner

I made this banner for my dt work for July at yourscrapbookstash.com. It was a Maya Road skinny house chipboard album, and I'm just not so good at making mini-albums, so I was inspired by the new craze of banners that I've seen all over the place to make a banner. I used lots of Maya Road goodies - mists, chipboard butterflies and letters, pins; Echo Park's "walk in the park' patterned paper and stickers, some Prima and lots of different ribbons that were sitting on my desk! Most everything is available at yourscrapbookstash.com, where everything is on sale right - just use the code JULY20 and you will receive 20% off of everything in the store - as well as tons of clearance items right now as Erica is trying to get rid of some things to make room for Summer CHA items!!! TFL!!

Tallyscrapper July kit layouts and a card!!

I got my first kit from Tallyscrapper and it is an awesome one!! It is such a great deal at $25 - it's packed with so many goodies!! It has a masculine feel to it - but it's neutral enough so that
you can use it for anything!! The colors of this kit have a kind of vintagey 4th of July feel to it, so I made a 4th of July card! Everything is from the kit except for the smaller letters. For my "room with a view" layout I used the pp, the larger letters, the bliss tag, the rub-on, and the chipboard button from the kit - everything else is from my stash. That picture was taken from the balcony of our hotel room in Miami. For my "Take Time" layout - everything is from the kit except for the prima pebbles. For my "My Son" layout - everything on this is from the kit!! And I still have lots of goodies leftover!! TFL!!

yourscrapbookstash.com sketch for 7/9

This is my take on the sketch that was posted on 7/9 at the yourscrapbookstash.com blog. Not sure I really like how it turned out, but I do love the misting and the colors!! The photos were taken on the southernmost point of Key West at sunset. I handcut the word sunset and the patterned papers are from the line Echo Park (which you can purchase at yss.com)!!
