Another layout - with the same picture!!
This picture has gotten some great useage! It's one of my favs (and one of the few) pics that I have of Michael and me together that I actually like! This was for a challenge to make a layout of how we first met someone special. I didn't realize that my story would be so long, so I had to make my journaling hidden. I used one of my older kits from A Kiss on the Chic - I forget which one - but I used up a whole pack of primas, then used the packaging to punch out the butterflies! Different style than one of my usual layouts but I was feeling kinda shabby chic today :)!

More challenges met!!
I put together this layout last night and combined several Studio Calico challenges all on one layout! The challenges were to use a piece of packaging (mat under the pic from a pack of Prima flowers), whitewash a background (I used a piece of My Minds Eye pp that I white (and green) washed, then misted charcoal on top), and use hearts (the heart pins under the butterflies which I punched using a Martha Stewart punch and then sewed them on). I also used the sketch for the weekly sketch challenge at Studio Calico. Most everything is from the January Studio Calico kit - the frame stamp, pins and yellow ribbon were from an earlier SC kit (I forget which month) and the thickers were from my stash! TFL!

For a Studio Calico Challenge
I did this layout for a Studio Calico challenge of drawing on a layout. I traces around the scallops after I misted them. Love the picture on this layout - Samantha always could get the best of her "little" brother, even though he's now 6'5" and weighs about 100 lbs more than her! She's one tough cookie!! For the flower, I used a piece of fabrip (from Studio Calico's Homefront line) and the rest was from my Jan Studio Calico kit! TFL!

Feeling better!
I finally felt well enough to finish this layout that's been sitting on my table for over a week partially completed! I would wander into my scraproom and look at it and move things around, but I just had no energy at all to finish this until yesterday! Having the flu stinks! I still feel a little weak if I try and do too much! I used my Jan Studio Calico kit for this. It's of me cooking - I finally made beef bourginion over the holidays. It was a very expensive and time consuming recipe, but well worth it!

Tim Holtz new stuff!!
Has anyone seen this cool new sizzix stuff Tim has designed!! They are all so funky cool! I don't even own a sizzix machine and these make me want to go out and buy one and every single one of these dies!! That bottom row is for edging. The four pics at the top are some samples of the embossing folders that he has - there are 16 altogether (two per package) and they are to die for - the woodgrain, bingo card, and ledger pages are my favorite!!

It's Been a While!!
Since I've blogged at least! I have been doing layouts - I've been in a groove and doing one a day! I can only do that as long as I don't "have" to do one a day...LOL. Here are my latest....they are all done with my Jan Studio Calico kits. I really love this month's kits. I've seen bits and pieces of next month's kit and I'm just not sure I'm going to like it - the colors just aren't me!! We'll see. I didn't think I'd like December's kit either and I ended up using most of it and making 7 layouts - not bad since I only got the main kit!

Layouts made using the rest of my Dec Studio Calico kit
Here a couple of layouts I made using the rest of my December Studio Calico kit. I have another one, but it's for the January telephone scraplift and I can't show it right now! I used some older pics (from 1988 and 89) of the older kids. On the sassy layout I misted over a bunch of primas. I sewed around and used a piece of the fabric for the mat (which I turned over) that was in the kit and used some of the brads as flower centers. I just love both of these pics I used - they really capture the personality of Samantha when she was little!!
Tag #12 Tim Holtz 12 tags of Christmas
I made this a couple of weeks ago, and just had the time today to finally post a pic! I have one more tag to make and I will have made all of them! The flowers were hard to make using grungepaper! These were fun to make and I hope he does them next year! Tim's tag is on top, mine is on the bottom! TFL!

New Year - New Decade - New Thinking
Well, it's a new year and this year I feel like I need a direction to move in where my creativity is concerned. I feel like my scrapping is very creative - but I want to break out of my little cocoon of layouts and start making other things. Something where I can feel safe to experiment with new ideas and techniques without fear of ruining pictures or a large amount of scrappy supplies. So my goal this year is to make an ATC card a week using a new technique or idea that is totally outside of my style. I want to express my feelings with these and I feel that I will be freer using smaller amounts of supplies. I'd also like to take some photo lessons to learn how to properly use my camera and lenses. I have a great camera and some great lenses, but all I use is use my auto focus and point and click my pics! What a waste!! These are my scrappy resolutions and I'm excited to begin my new adventure in art!
